Diabeteic Dentistry

Picture 2

The biggest difference between a dentist, who serves the general popula-tion, and a diabetic dentist is much the same as the difference between a family care practitioner and a physician or internist specializing in diabetic treatment. The diabetic dentist understands the physiology of diabetes mellitus, the various medical drug treatments, blood glucose testing, complications, as well as the principles of training and teaching diabetic patients to self manage.

He also understands the relationship between overall system health and his area of expertise – oral health.

Roger Briggs talks about the special concerns of diabetic patients.
